Web-based serials-finding tool
The comprehensive online list is provided as an alphabetical list on simple Web pages. For
users, A-to-Z drastically reduces search time and keeps resources from being overlooked.
For libraries, it saves a tremendous amount of staff time that can be used for other tasks.
Simple browsing, plus basic and advanced searching, including searching by subject
Users can easily find titles by browsing an alphabetical list of titles,
browsing a subject list or searching by title name, publisher or ISSN.
Advanced searching features allow users to search by exact match, `begins with` and `contains` on title
name, publisher, ISSN or all fields.
Easy access to online hosting sites
A-to-Z provides a list of, and links to, available database providers and journal hosting
sites, e.g., EBSCOhost®, ScienceDirect®, MetaPress, Ingenta, etc.
Comprehensive master list of titles with coverage data
EBSCO has created a master list of titles and coverage data from hundreds of different sources,
including publisher packages, databases and stand-alone e-journals. The list can also include titles
submitted by the library, such as print journals. Titles from all major database vendors, significant e-journal providers and publisher packages are included.
Title list management
The administrator controls the titles in the list, including selecting which databases, titles
in publisher packages and individual titles are to be included.
Title list customization
The administrator decides which journal data is seen by end users. You may create a
simple list of title names and links or include details like coverage, publisher names,
database providers, embargo information (if available), ISSN, local holdings, etc.
Customer-Controlled Notes and Icons
Customer-Controlled Notes and Icons allows customers to display messages to their users by adding custom notes and/or assigning icons to titles in their lists at the vendor, package/database or title levels. For example, some notes and messages are very specific to a given resource and thus need to be represented with actual text, e.g., "Hayes Building, third floor." Other information can be more effectively conveyed as a simple symbol or icon (e.g., an icon such as may indicate that off-campus access is approved).
Enhanced Proxy Server Settings
Enhanced Proxy Server Settings allow customers to designate multiple proxy servers within A-to-Z, assign proxy servers globally, assign proxy server settings per vendor, package/database or title. Multiple proxy servers can be setup. A library can configure the system to use a back-up proxy server in the event their main proxy server is not available, allowing the primary proxy server to be taken offline with minimal affect on end users. And with the improved proxy support, A-to-Z is able to easily meet the needs of institutions that purchase resources through a consortium and are required to set up some resources to use a consortium's proxy server and others to use the institution's proxy server.
Branding
The administrator can personalize the site with their institution's logos, names, visual layout and contact information with links.
EBSCO CustomLinks™
Add your own CustomLinks, such as a link to your OPAC to display journal details or link to your local linking server (e.g., LinkSourceTM, SFX). You can also setup all links to go through your proxy server.
Hosting
The list is hosted completely on EBSCO's Web servers, requiring only the addition of a single hyperlink to the list on the library's Web site.
Usage data captured
Valuable usage data, including overall usage (sessions, searches, link-outs) and usage of each journal (link-outs by target), is captured for statistical reports. EBSCO does not use a client's usage data for any purpose unless written consent is obtained. See our Privacy Policy.
Full-featured administrative site
Administrators have secure access to a full-featured easy-to-use Admin site (http://atoz.ebsco.com/admin/) to control all the list's features. Control the list as you want, with no need for extra phone calls or "e-mail tag."
EBSCO support
All the resources of EBSCO's world-class support services are available to A-to-Z customers including complimentary Web-based training (http://training.ebsco.com) and a helpful Support site (http://support.ebsco.com). |
