EBSCO's A-to-Z privacy guidelines adhere to the same standards reflected in the International Coalition of Library Consortia
(ICOLC) Privacy Guidelines.
- User Confidentiality. EBSCO respects the privacy of the users of its products. Accordingly, EBSCO will not disclose
information about any individual user of its products, including information about the specific content of a user's searches, to a third
party without the permission of that individual user, except as required by law. Statistical reports or data that reveal information
about individual users will not be released or sold by EBSCO without the permission of that individual user or the institution.
EBSCO is committed to protecting user privacy online. We believe that strong electronic privacy is crucial for
the ongoing success of the Internet. We also believe it is critical for us to adhere to the American Library Association's Code
of Ethics. We pledge to give you as much control as possible over your personal information. We will not disclose individually-identifiable
information about you to any third party without your consent.
Institutional or Consortia Confidentiality. EBSCO will not release or sell statistical usage
information about specific institutions or the consortium without permission, except to the consortium administrators and other member
libraries. Use of institutional or consortium data as part of an aggregate grouping of similar institutions for purposes of comparison
does not require prior permission as long as specific institutions or consortia are not identifiable. When required by contractual
agreements, EBSCO may furnish institutional use data to the content providers.
EBSCO does not use title lists or usage statistics generated by A-to-Z to gain knowledge about customers or vendors who produce services competitive to EBSCO's products or services.
Authorized use protected. EBSCO will not deny an authorized user access to its product on account of
that user's election not to permit distribution of personal information to a third party.
Responsibility. EBSCO will maintain full control over its site to prevent any violation of
the privacy policy by a third party, such as an advertiser or ISP.
