EBSCO Publishing announced today that it has enabled article-level linking from EBSCOhost® to the full-text articles available in the JSTOR archive. The initial implementation of this linking agreement will facilitate full-text links from all EBSCOhost proprietary databases (including Academic SearchTM Premier, Academic SearchTM Elite, Business Source® Premier and Business Source® Elite) as well as the MEDLINE® database. These databases will link to many of the 218 titles currently available in JSTOR's five (5) archival collections (Arts & Sciences I, Arts & Sciences II, General Science, Ecology & Botany, and Business). According to Oliver Pesch, EBSCO's Chief Technical Officer, this new linking option is in line with EBSCO's plan to offer access to not only the largest collection of quality full text journals, but also to provide the linking services necessary to facilitate the notion of a seamless, integrated research environment for end users. "EBSCOhost customers who are also JSTOR participants can now launch a search in EBSCOhost, and link directly from a citation in a number of EBSCOhost databases to the full text in the JSTOR archive." Our agreement with JSTOR will offer a wonderful opportunity to expand and enhance the access to archived full-text information for those EBSCOhost customers who also license JSTOR's various collections. Pesch commented, "This type of linking not only helps to integrate the various reference components of a library's collection, but also offers convenient, powerful access to important current and archived journals for researchers. We are excited to be working with a quality organization like JSTOR to provide this powerful archival linking capability." Released: April 24, 2002 |
