MasterFILE PremierTM (MFP) contains full text for nearly 2,000 periodicals, including those most commonly purchased by public libraries. During the 2001, EBSCO added many leading magazines in full text to MFP: Archaeology, Architectural Record, Atlantic Monthly, Aviation Week & Space Technology, Careers & Colleges, Chronicle of Higher Education, Fast Company, Internet World, Macworld, National Journal, Parenting, Phi Delta Kappan, Publishers Weekly, Red Herring, Teen People, Variety, etc. In addition, EBSCO is in the process of expanding full text backfiles for key publications back to 1975, including: American Libraries, Library Journal, National Review, Foreign Affairs, History Today, Natural History, and others. MFP is the world's finest collection of full text magazines and EBSCO will always remain committed to enhancing this core element of the database. However, periodicals are not the only useful full text sources in MFP. EBSCO is in the process of adding an unparalleled collection of complementary publication-types to its largest public library database. Reference Books: EBSCO has already loaded full text for more than 100 reference books to MasterFILE Premier. That list includes current versions of Frommer's Travel Guides, Hunter Travel Guides, Complete Idiot's Guides, World Almanac & Book of Facts, CIA World Fact Book, Historical Almanac of the United States Senate, and many others. In addition, EBSCO has licensed and will be providing access to dozens of new full text reference books, including: Columbia Encyclopedia, How To Books, and others. Biographical Content: EBSCO offers full text for the full run of Biography Magazine (with nearly 1,800 biographies) and will be including all of those articles in the biographies section of MFP. Those biographies, with images, will be joining entries from Cambridge Dictionary of American Biography (nearly 10,000 brief biographies), Congressional Biographies (nearly 10,000 biographies from American Reference Library), and Hutchinson's Biography Database (nearly 25,000 brief biographies). Further, Britannica Biographies (more than 20,000 well-written biographies from Encyclopaedia Britannica), Great Athletes (more than 800 detailed biographies from Salem Press), and Profiles of U.S. Presidents (42) will all be added to the biographies section of MFP. Primary Source Documents: EBSCO has just finished loading one of the most respected collections of primary source documents in the world, American Reference Library. This critical source joins Essential Documents of American History and several collections from Emedia Millworks in MFP's primary source documents section. The collections contain more than 60,000 full text primary source documents, ranging from the Privileges and Prerogatives Granted to Columbus (1492) to the Constitution of the United States to the Emancipation Proclamation to Kennedy's Inagural Address to Congressional Testimony on the Global Reach of Al-Qaeda. Image Collections: MFP already contains an image collection containing more than 10,000 quality images from Archive Photo, as well as 1,100 maps and flags from MapQuest. This year, EBSCO will expand this collection by more than 80,000 images through a new relationship with one of the world's leading news agencies. These images will be found in the image collections section of MFP, which will now include more than 91,000 total images. EBSCOhost® software allows users to limit their searches to specific content types, preventing this additional information from being lost in the enormous collection of full text magazine articles found in the database.
