EBSCO has now released the MLA International Bibliography on the EBSCOhost® search interface, adding another significant element to its unequalled collection of full text and secondary databases available to academic libraries.

With the MLA International Bibliography from EBSCO, not only will researchers have access to a rich bibliographic database, but also, due to the linking functionality built into EBSCOhost, they will be able to link seamlessly from a citation to the corresponding full text in a wide variety of sources. Those sources include, among several others, EBSCO's full text databases as well as electronic journals to which the library subscribes.

In addition to the bibliography, the database includes the MLA Directory of Periodicals; the association's proprietary thesaurus, which is used to assign descriptors to each record in the bibliography; and a proprietary, searchable directory of noted authors' names with links to brief descriptive notes.

"The Modern Language Association is pleased to work with EBSCO on this project to make the MLA International Bibliography available in this format," said Rosemary G. Feal, Executive Director. "The database as presented on the EBSCOhost search interface is very well done and will be appreciated by users of the product."

About the Database
MLA International Bibliography is an index of journal articles, books and dissertations. Produced by the Modern Language Association, the electronic version of the bibliography dates back to 1963 and contains over 1.5 million citations from more than 4,400 journals and series and 1,000 book publishers.

The indexed materials coverage is international and subjects include literature, language and linguistics, folklore, literary theory and criticism, dramatic arts, as well as the historical aspects of printing and publishing. Also included are recently added listings on rhetoric and composition and the history, theory and practice of teaching language and literature.

The MLA Directory of Periodicals contains information for over 7,000 language, literature and folklore journals and series; of these, over 4,000 are currently indexed in the MLA International Bibliography. Within the directory, each entry provides editorial, subscription and advertising information, submission guidelines and a description of the periodical's scope. The directory also provides statistics on how many articles and book reviews the periodicals publish each year, as well as how many are submitted.
