About EBSCO Contact Us Site Map News Releases

PubMed, an important database offered by the National Library of Medicine (NLM), gives users a vast reference resource for accessing a variety of biomedical literature. The inclusion of links from this service to full text journal articles at the Web sites of participating publishers has made PubMed an even more powerful tool. "LinkOut" is a new feature of PubMed that is designed to provide users with links from PubMed bibliographic records to relevant Web-accessible online resources, including journal articles in full text databases. Recent arrangements between EBSCO and PubMed have enabled EBSCO as a provider of full text for PubMed. Now eligible users can link from PubMed records to corresponding full text in EBSCOhost biomedical databases - including the Biomedical Reference Collections and Nursing & Allied Health Collections.

In a continuing effort to further enhance linking services, EBSCO Publishing also offers complete LinkOut setup assistance and further technical support to libraries that want to represent their EBSCO holdings in PubMed. This facilitates seamless linking from PubMed to corresponding articles in those EBSCOhost full text databases to which a library subscribes. Some administrative maintenance is necessary if libraries want only active links to appear to their users. However, EBSCO can facilitate this linking such that libraries will not need to enter and maintain information pertaining to their EBSCO subscription on their own.

It is important to note that EBSCO Publishing's setup assistance and technical support will be limited to EBSCOhost full text databases. Libraries willing to establish links to other information providers will have to use Library LinkOut File Submission Utility provided by NLM and contact the PubMed LinkOut team for further assistance.
