MetaPress, the electronic publishing service of EBSCO Industries' Publisher Promotion & Fulfillment division, announces its compliance with Athens access management services. The Athens Access Management System controls access to Web-based subscription services through account management features. Athens has been in active use since 1996 in the UK Higher Education community, providing access to many centrally-funded Web-based services. It is now the de-facto standard in the community for access management, and data service providers now find it difficult to sell into this community without Athens security. As an Athens-compliant data service provider, MetaPress end users can access all their resources through a globally accepted sign on feature. "The completion of Athens compliance is a demonstration of MetaPress' continuous mandate to provide the most comprehensive content management and hosting system available to the STM community," said MetaPress General Manager Mark Williams. "By permitting an Athens login, MetaPress enhances its accessibility, particularly within the UK academic community."
