EBSCO Publishing and the Getty Research Institute today announced the release of Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals, a bibliographical indexing database available via EBSCOhost®. Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals is the most recent database to join the growing number of secondary databases available through EBSCOhost.

Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals, produced at Columbia University's Avery & Fine Arts Library since 1934 and published by the J. Paul Getty Trust and Columbia University, is the only comprehensive American guide to the current literature of architecture and design. This database surveys more than 2,500 US and foreign journals. Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals covers international, scholarly and popular periodical literature, including publications of professional associations; US state and regional periodicals; and major serial publications in the architecture and design of Europe, Asia, Latin America and Australia. In addition, this database also provides nearly 13,000 citation records for architects' obituaries.

"The Avery collection is the premier index for architectural studies, and we are excited to be offering this database on EBSCOhost," said Bethany Close, EBSCO's product manager for secondary databases. "Combining the data found in the Avery Index with EBSCOhost's powerful interface and linking features, brings research in the area of architectural studies to new levels." She continued, "We added the Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals in response to customer feedback, and we will continue adding secondary databases so desired by our customers."

The Getty Center, which consists of the expanded J. Paul Getty Museum, the Conservation Institute, and the Grant Program, opened in 1997. Combined, the Center offers a wide range of diversity including, but not limited to, visual arts, international projects and research, and philanthropic programs designed to benefit the public as well as international scholars.
