With the addition of Biology Digest, published by Plexus Publishing, the EBSCOhost® suite of databases continues to grow through the availability of both new proprietary and licensed, secondary databases.

Complementing the variety of EBSCOhost databases available to high school and college students, Biology Digest offers lengthy abstracts covering all the life sciences, including medicine, health, zoology, botany, environmental science, and many other categories. The database provides easy access to new scientific developments at a comprehension level appropriate for these students. Biology Digest contains abstracts for articles from over 200 journals.

Libraries utilizing EBSCO's full text databases in conjunction with Biology Digest can link from citation-only results in Biology Digest to the corresponding full text articles from a number of sources covered in these full text databases.

Biology Digest provides yet another subject-specific database designed to enhance high school as well as college research in this key subject area. According to David Mangione, vice president of product management for EBSCO Publishing, "We have been aggressively creating and licensing new subject-specific databases. Advisory board and customer feedback has indicated that scientific information at all levels of study is an area of great importance." Mangione continued, "While we offer a solid line of products for medical libraries and medical professionals, Biology Digest joins our suite of scientifically-oriented collections designed to serve researchers at the high school and college level."

Some other science-specific databases designed for high schools and/or undergraduate students and recently made available from EBSCO include: General Science CollectionTM, Scientific American Archive Online, Marshall Cavendish Science Reference CenterTM and H.W. Wilson's General Science Abstracts.
