Hospitality & Tourism Index™ (HTI), produced by EBSCO Publishing, is a new bibliographic database covering all significant scholarly research and industry news relating to the areas of hospitality and tourism. This comprehensive index combines the records of three renowned collections: Cornell University's former Hospitality database, previously unavailable for public use; Articles in Hospitality and Tourism (AHT), formerly co-produced by the Universities of Surrey and Oxford Brookes; and the Lodging, Restaurant & Tourism Index (LRTI), formerly produced by Purdue University. HTI contains more than 440,000 records from 500 titles, with coverage going back to the early 1940s. True to the nature of the discipline, sources are both domestic and international in range and scope, with material collected from countries and regions such as Canada, Australia, Europe and Asia. Publications include Hotel & Motel Management, Journal of Leisure Research, Nation's Restaurant News, Restaurants & Institutions, and many more. Major coverage includes demographics and statistics, development and investment, food and beverage management, hospitality law, hotel management and administrative practices, leisure and business travel, market trends, technology and more. Articles from publications that focus on related subject areas such as real estate, marketing, and consumer psychology will be selected by an editor to provide the researcher with the best possible coverage of hospitality, travel, and tourism. EBSCO plans to increase the coverage of relevant, well-respected periodical literature, conference proceedings, and other non-traditional content. In addition to its unmatched content, HTI was designed so researchers can take full advantage of the searching and linking technology of the EBSCOhost® search engine. Searches can be defined by publication, date, scholarly/peer reviewed content, linked full text, and available references. Index browsing for authors, author-supplied keywords, document type, subjects terms and more is available. The database also provides searchable references for more than 60 core titles, and easy linking to full text, when available. Future enhancements will include a hierarchical journal authority file/publications authority and a Hospitality Thesaurus. According to Mark Herrick, vice president of business development for EBSCO Publishing, "Hospitality & Tourism Index reflects what can be accomplished when EBSCO works with the leading practitioners and researchers in a discipline to create a new information resource. This database marks another step toward our goal of providing the best information in the most accessible way possible for any given field of research, work or study. "
