To help expedite the e-journal ordering process, EBSCO's Publisher Services department now collects the required registration numbers for customers from publishers. This time-saving service keeps customers from having to search for registration numbers in order to verify e-journal subscription information or to gain access at publisher Web sites.

After determining which publishers require registration numbers, Publisher Services targets new orders that require a registration number, receives the number from the publisher and in turn, e-mails it to the appropriate library staff member.

Publisher Services also expedites e-journal orders through its arrangement with more than 400 publishers and fulfillment houses to accept orders via e-mail. Additionally, the department may handle the registration process for e-journals and communicate a library's IP address updates to publishers.

"Each day we continue streamlining and improving our processes to get these orders processed faster," said E-journals Customer Service Supervisor Bethany Smith. "These new procedures will help us continue to provide valuable services for the library community."

"I want to thank EBSCO for sending this informational e-mail and detailed instructions for activating our account," said Lola Stretsky, Auraria Library, University of Colorado at Denver. "I wish we had received the same conscientious customer support from others for journal titles that we subscribe to."

EBSCO has also recently doubled the size of its staff that provides support for EBSCO's e-resource access and management services. All new members of the User Services department have extensive Web customer service experience.

Each Support Representative receives training in library basics, customer service procedures and individual instruction on the specific service he/she supports. Each new representative is also paired with an experienced User Services staff member who serves as a mentor.
