EBSCOhost® Electronic Journals Service Now Includes Access to Preprint Articles
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama, U.S.A. - Dec. 20, 2006 - Preprint articles are now conveniently accessible via EBSCOhost® Electronic Journals Service (EJS), the library's tool for streamlining the administrative work associated with the management and access of electronic journals. With the addition of preprint articles - advance copies of articles to appear in an upcoming issue of a journal - EJS enables the library to provide its end users with access to the most recent electronic content prior to its release in print format. End users can quickly and easily access the preprint articles from within EJS; when browsing issues through EJS' standard e-linking technology, links to preprint articles will automatically populate when available for the journals the library has under subscription. Library administrators can utilize the extensive administrative functions within EJS, such as the Local Notes feature, to alert their patrons to available preprints. "We are pleased to offer libraries convenient access to preprint articles," said Oliver Pesch, EBSCO's chief strategist of e-resources. "EJS provides a common interface to browse the volumes and issues of more than 10,000 e-journals, and with this new feature we have extended the capability of our enhanced linking technology to include the most current content on the publisher's site."
