EBSCO Publishing has significantly upgraded the Alerts function in EBSCOhost® with a Journal Alerts feature. This new function provides e-mail notification to EBSCO database users when a new issue of a selected journal is added to a database. At the same time, EBSCOhost will e-mail a link to the journal table of contents or links to specific articles to multiple addresses specified in the alert. This new feature takes alerts to a higher level, adding options to an already impressive functionality. Previously, users could specify only a search query and direct EBSCOhost to run the query automatically and e-mail results to any number of user-defined e-mail addresses. With the new feature, users retain the ability to save search queries with alerts and add the ability to request e-mail notification when a user-defined journal or magazine is added to a specified database. Timeliness and currency are important in research, and with the journal alerts, users of EBSCOhost will stay well informed of content changes in EBSCO databases. As with previous alerts, the user controls the update frequency, the e-mail recipients, and the e-mail format. EBSCO Publishing, EBSCO Subscription Services and EBSCO Book Services form the EBSCO Information Services group. EBSCO is a worldwide leader in providing information access and management solutions through print and electronic journal subscription services, research database development and production, online access to more than 100 databases and thousands of e-journals, and e-commerce book procurement.
