Innovative Interfaces and EBSCO Successfully Launch Automated E-journal Check-in Service

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama, U.S.A.May 15, 2007Innovative Interfaces and EBSCO Information Services are pleased to announce the successful release of a service that automatically performs check-in of online journals.

The service, which utilizes the e-checkin server of Innovative’s Millennium ILS, leverages EBSCO’s e-resource knowledgebase to automatically update a customer’s library system whenever a new issue of a subscribed journal is made available online. EBSCO currently monitors content availability at publisher sites for more than 14,400 e-journals.

"This initiative is part of an overall Innovative strategy of reducing the time and effort it takes to get e-journal information into Millennium," says Innovative's Senior Project Manager Ted Fons. "It's an important step for our libraries to get better access to EBSCO's impressive content so they can focus on the collection development decisions they need to make."

“Until now, the nature of e-journals has dictated the impracticality of libraries being able to check in their e-journals” said Oliver Pesch, chief strategist, information technology, EBSCO. “This new service not only makes it possible for libraries to monitor the publication schedules of their e-journals, but, because our knowledgebase acts as a consolidation point, libraries can also manage virtually all of their e-journals through this single service.”

To request setup of this service, please send an e-mail to EAMSFeedback@ebsco.com.
