Online Reader® provides an invaluable reading tool that fulfills the requirements for funding through No Child Left Behind. An interdisciplinary database of articles and images from leading magazines, it includes Lexiled reading material suitable for early readers through grade 12. By design, the database complements existing reading programs, and offers 4,000 carefully chosen, high-interest articles for reading comprehension practice, along with reading tests and thematic teacher guides.

Using Online Reader allows educators to:

  • Match the needs of heterogeneous classrooms and differentiated instruction
  • Fulfill specific Title I and IDEA mandates
  • Support team teaching and interdisciplinary studies
  • Provide students with practice for standardized tests
  • Qualify for "Reading First" and "No Child Left Behind" funding
  • Enhance teacher professional development through access to online educational journals
The database includes tests with articles; thematic, comprehensive, standards-based teacher guides to build expository skills; automatic grading/feedback for all tests taken in the program; a grade book that allows teachers to assign materials according to individual student needs, create student/group profiles and track progress; and a progress report that allows students to view reading assignments, tests and their own reading achievements.

According to Dr. Mary Spor, chair of content area reading for the International Reading Association, "Every teacher is charged with improving the reading ability of each student, yet there has never been a comprehensive and easily accessible system to do that -- until now. Online Reader provides the ability to do it all. This is the best I've ever seen."
