SocINDEX™ Now Available From EBSCO Publishing: SocINDEX™ with Full Text also Available

IPSWICH, Mass. — April 20, 2005 — After two years of thorough research and development, EBSCO Publishing is pleased to make available SocINDEX™ and SocINDEX™ with Full Text. SocINDEX™, available via EBSCOhost®, provides greater depth and breadth of coverage than any other sociology research database available today. Further, SocINDEX with Full Text builds upon the comprehensive indexing and abstracts of SocINDEX by providing corresponding full text coverage for hundreds of publications. With the release of these databases, libraries now have a superior alternative to the sociology index to which they may currently subscribe.

SocINDEX is the world's most comprehensive and highest quality sociology research database. The index features more than 1,300,000 records with subject headings from a 15,000 term sociology-specific thesaurus designed by a team of subject experts and lexicographers. This product also contains informative abstracts for more than 620 "core" journals dating as far back as 1895. In addition, this file provides "priority" coverage of more than 500 journals as well as “selective” coverage of more than 1,070 additional journals. Further, extensive indexing for books, monographs, conference papers, and other sources is included. Searchable cited references are also provided. SocINDEX offers coverage from all subdisciplines of sociology, including abortion, anthropology, criminology, criminal justice, cultural sociology, demography, economic development, ethnic & racial studies, gender studies, marriage & family, politics, religion, rural sociology, social psychology, social structure, social work, sociological theory, sociology of education, substance abuse, urban studies, violence, welfare, and many others.

SocINDEX™ with Full Text provides the same comprehensive indexing and abstracts as SocINDEX™, as well as full text for 241 "core" journals dating as far back as 1895, and full text coverage of 72 "priority" journals. This database also includes full text for 545 books and monographs, and full text for 6,711 conference papers.
