Commemorating an International Milestone
It has been 35 years since EBSCO established a Regional Office in Brazil in 1974, making it the first office located outside North America.

Thirty-five years ago, EBSCO Information Services (EIS) acquired Libris Agencia Literaria Ltda., establishing its first office outside North America in Brazil on Sept. 4, 1974. “The company had developed a regional office network to cover all of North America, but recognized that local presence was necessary in distant markets in order to grow internationally,” EBSCO Chairman J.T. Stephens, who oversaw the acquisition, said. The new office in Brazil went on to challenge well-known international agencies and today is the largest agency in Brazil.

The Brazil team is celebrating 35 years by commemorating the occasion at industry events and showing appreciation to its customers for years of sustained growth. Humberto Moll, who took over the office as general manager 10 years ago, said commitment to service has been the team’s greatest achievement. “We have had great achievements in the past 10 years, but the most important is EBSCO’s stability and commitment to providing the best service and products to its customers,” Moll said.
