Knight Rifles Relocates and Launches KP-1
KP-1

In November 2006 the sales, production, accounting and order entry portion of Knight Rifles moved from its original home in Centerville, Iowa, to Decatur, Ala., to work under one roof with Summit Treestands and its parent company, PRADCO Outdoor Brands.

Lynn Schlichte, brand manager for Knight Rifles, sees the move as an exciting chance to expand Knight Rifles. “This move gives us the opportunity to improve business everywhere,” Schlichte said. “The move will allow us to do things we have not been able to do before.”

Such as, he said with excitement, the development of a new rifle – the Knight KP-1, a single-shot muzzleloader, centerfire and rimfire rifle. Randy Wakeman, senior editor of Guns and Shooting Online, raved about the new rifle, which was introduced at the 2007 SHOT Show held in mid-January. “Knight Rifles surprised me with the slickest single-shot muzzleloader I’ve ever seen from Knight: The Knight KP-1,” Wakeman said.

The new rifle addresses the previous shortcomings of the T/C Encore, including trigger, recoil and aesthetics. The single-shot break action, exposed hammer “utility gun” platform will get Knight Rifles into the centerfire and rimfire business for the first time in history.

“It is easily one of the best, most impressive muzzleloader and single-shot rifles introduced in 2007 – perhaps the best in years,” Wakeman continued. “Wait ’til you see and shoot one; this is the Knight that we have been waiting for a very long time. I don’t think you’ll find this to be an exaggeration at all. It is a ‘wow.’”

New product development will allow Knight Rifles to live for the future, rather than year to year. Schlichte emphasized the need for Knight to continuously look for ways to develop new products and improve existing products.

The marketing, warranty, technical and customer service portions of Knight Rifles will remain in Centreville, Iowa. This choice was made because the Centerville plant features a 100-yard underground testing facility, Schlichte said.
