Tinkering with Tinker
Tinker Business Forms makes some changes

The adage that “perception is reality” may not always ring true; perception can really affect business. Tinker Business Forms, a small, quick printer serving the printing needs of large corporations, has changed its name to Tinker Printing & Envelope to better communicate the services offered to customers.

“When we called on new accounts, they would tell us that they never thought we had the capabilities we do,” said Ralph Nelson, vice president and general manager. Realizing the name was holding them back, Tinker Business Forms became Tinker Printing & Envelope. “We want to be seen as a print house, but not a specific type of print house. We do not want to be seen just as a four color, spot or forms printer,” said Nelson. “We want to be considered a ‘one-stop print shop.’”

Tinker can still provide all the business forms anyone needs, but as most of those became electronic, Tinker expanded to include the Jet Press, a rapid envelope printer, as well as more color printing capabilities.

Proud of the new name, Nelson previewed it to a few customers who told him, “Tinker Printing & Envelope does a much better job of describing you.” Both Nelson and J.T. Stephens, Chairman of EBSCO, as well as the Tinker family, feel the new name will serve them well and open doors to new business.
