Vulcan Information Packaging recently won its first-ever Benny Award from the Printing Industries of America (PIA).

“This is a big accomplishment for everyone at VIP,” said Barry Franklin, vice president and general manager. “We have received several Product of Excellence awards from PIA, but this is our first Benny Award.”

VIP was recognized for their unique design and quality production of a special binder, tri fold and a turned-edge box designed for Coast to Coast, a client of Grand Incentives. Grand Incentives is a long-time customer of VIP that specializes in vacation packages. This job was VIP’s largest custom job to date.

Linda Frizzell, customer service representative, who coordinated between Grand Incentives and VIP, explained that the project was challenging.

“Coast to Coast wanted something classic and unique with a vintage feel,” she said. “We worked with designers to develop a product that was both functional and met the specific requests of Grand Incentives .”

After extensive labor, VIP developed a concept that pleased everyone: a snazzy box, binder and tri fold coated with a bronze powder to give depth and iridescence. They were further embellished with a gel dome logo, bound with leather accents and straps, and finished with a delicate vintage style motif designed by VIP Designer Bryan Riggsby.

“On a scale of 1 to 10 in difficulty, this project was definitely a 10. It was a true collaborative effort,” said Frizzell. “Every department had to work together to make this project pay off. The award the project has already garnered is a testament to our success. We will definitely be adding the Benny Award to our Web site.”
