Stephens Promoted to General Manager of Wingscapes

In January, Bart Stephens was promoted to general manager of Wingscapes and is now poised to help the fledgling brand take off in the marketplace. “I want to contribute meaningful profit to EBSCO, developing a suite of innovative products that enhance how people enjoy backyard wildlife,” Stephens said. “If we can do this while providing excellent customer service, we will be successful.”

Stephens has been involved with Wingscapes since the inception of the BirdCam – a digital camera specifically engineered to photograph backyard birds. Stephens worked closely with engineers and marketers throughout the development of the BirdCam and has developed a close bond to both the product and customers.

“I find the diversity of this line of work to be exciting,” Stephens said. “I am learning constantly, which makes the job very gratifying. One particular aspect that is consistently exciting is receiving amazing bird photos from happy customers.”

Prior to his appointment to general manager, Stephens was involved in the EBSCO management training program. He has also held sales positions with Ingram Library Services and the Atlanta Constitution, and worked with the circulation departments of The Economist magazine and Southern Progress Corporation.

Looking back, Stephens finds his father, Jim Stephens, had the greatest influence on his career along with his grandfather, Elton B. Stephens.

Stephens also points to John Kempf with Global Point Products as a key influence in the BirdCam’s development. “John has great product development experience and merchandising instincts. We could not have developed the BirdCam without his guidance and sense of humor,” Stephens said.
