EBSCO is expanding its services to address education requirements and job skills with the acquisition of LearningExpress. EBSCO’s Senior Vice President of Product Management Michael Laddin answers the “why” behind this acquisition, which brings the education technology company LearningExpress into the EBSCO family.
The pace of technology has increased, and so have the skill gaps that can threaten employees looking to remain current or market themselves to employers. Job prospects, current employees and adult learners are looking to keep up with the required skills in their field, and companies are looking to continually train employees in order to reduce turnover. On the other end of the workforce spectrum, students are looking for ways to get ahead — to understand the tests they are being asked to take and the skills they are required to obtain as they go through school and move into the job market. Is a two-year or four-year college the right path for them, or are they more interested in learning a trade?
We believe that the key to succeeding at these important employment stages is information. Whether a student is looking for a practice test or an adult learner is looking to bolster their reading, writing and math skills, LearningExpress can be a valuable resource to provide the information they need.
