Your users do not want to perform multiple clicks to get to the article they seek. EBSCO’s search technologies offer one-click access to full text.
Importance of Full Text
No search result is complete without the ability to access the full text behind the result. As libraries make long-term investments in electronic resources and discovery, providing users with seamless access to full-text content is critically important.
For many years, the focus has been on link resolvers as the prevailing way to enable full text access for library users. Yet these services have their challenges. Link resolver menus can be confusing to users who often get lost in the many options.
By utilizing a knowledge base of millions of article links from tens of thousands of journals, we can insert the appropriate links to full text directly into search results. We triangulate the availability, ownership and location of full text — providing the pre-validated links that appear for articles in the e-packages and e-journals to which a library subscribes. With this continuously updated article-level metadata, users have seamless access to their library’s online subscriptions.
EBSCO partners with many link resolver systems. However, we have developed a feature called CustomLinks to provide full text access faster to users. Libraries can set up CustomLinks to provide direct links to full-text content within any given search result list to avoid link resolver menus.
