Green banana biomass anti-obesogenic, anti-hyperlipidemic, antidiabetic, and intestinal function potential effects: a systematic review.

Abstract
This systematic review evaluates the effects of green banana biomass, a source of type 3 resistant starch (RS3), on anthropometric, biochemical, and intestinal variables in humans and animals. Analysis of 12 studies (10 human, 2 animal) indicates that consumption of green banana biomass (30–300 g/day) improves intestinal dysfunction in children, including persistent and acute diarrhea and constipation, and shows potential anti-obesogenic, anti-hyperlipidemic, and antidiabetic effects in adults and animal models. These benefits are likely mediated by increased production of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) from RS3 fermentation, which influence intestinal permeability, satiety hormones, lipid metabolism, and glycemic control. While no toxicity was reported, the review highlights the need for further well-designed clinical trials to clarify optimal dosages and long-term effects.
