Abstract

This article focuses on the New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill in Boylston, Massachusetts, highlighting its history, diverse garden areas, and ongoing conservation efforts. Established by the Worcester County Horticultural Society in 1986 on a 200-acre site, the garden features themed spaces such as the Lawn Garden, Secret Garden, and Beneficial Border, which supports pollinator preservation. Notable projects include the restoration of the Frank L. Harrington Sr. Apple Orchard, preserving 119 heritage apple varieties, and collaboration with the American Chestnut Cooperators’ Foundation to reintroduce disease-resistant American chestnut trees. The garden also offers educational and interactive experiences for visitors of all ages, including two conservatories that shelter tropical and subtropical plants during winter.
