Abstract
The article focuses on federal court rulings that blocked the Trump Administration from halting Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits during a government shutdown. Two U.S. District Court judges ordered the Administration to use a $6 billion contingency fund to provide at least partial SNAP payments scheduled for November, despite the shutdown and lack of new congressional appropriations. While the rulings require some benefits to be paid, the timing and amount of payments remain uncertain, with potential delays and reduced allocations possible. The Justice Department may appeal the decisions, which could further affect the distribution of benefits to millions of Americans.
