Abstract

A new marker honoring the Potawatomi tribal nation has been unveiled on the North Central College campus in Naperville. The marker replaces an outdated one from 1964 and provides a more comprehensive and accurate account of the Potawatomi's history in the area. The marker highlights the displacement of the Potawatomi and other tribal nations in the early 1800s and their efforts to remain neutral during the Black Hawk War. The unveiling ceremony was attended by over 50 people, including representatives from the Potawatomi Nation. [Extracted from the article]
