Abstract

The 33rd Conference of the Society of Oral Physiology took place in Naples, Italy, between May 23 and 26, 2024. The conference featured 22 lectures and 6 posters covering topics such as muscle physiology, screening, diagnosis, clinical studies, and training of masticatory function. Presentations included research on motor units in the masseter muscle, diagnostic procedures for neuropathic pain, and the effects of mandibular advancement splints on obstructive sleep apnea patients. The conference also addressed psychosocial aspects in patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis and the relationship between occlusal tactile acuity and maximum bite force.
