Abstract

This article focuses on the clinical management of a young patient who ingested over 30 hardware nails, with two nails ultimately found lodged within the appendix. Initial endoscopic removal via esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) extracted only three nails, while the remaining nails mostly passed spontaneously except for the two retained in the right lower quadrant. Laparoscopic exploration with fluoroscopic guidance identified the nails within the appendix, leading to a laparoscopic appendectomy and an uneventful recovery. The report highlights that foreign bodies lodged in the appendix are rare and discusses management strategies based on object type, location, and patient factors, emphasizing surgical intervention when objects fail to progress or pose risks.
