Abstract

A recent study published in Environmental Biology of Fishes has provided evidence that newborn great white sharks are born wrapped in a milky substance, possibly their mother's milk. The footage, captured by a drone off the coast of California, shows a 1.5-meter-long newborn shark covered in a white substance. This discovery is significant as observations of free-swimming newborn great white sharks are extremely rare, making it difficult for scientists to study their birth process. Understanding where these pups are born is crucial for conservation efforts to protect the vulnerable species. [Extracted from the article]
