Abstract
This article examines the relationship between nonconsensual sexual experiences (NSEs), sexual functioning, and the frequency of engaging in "duty sex," defined as having sex out of a sense of obligation rather than desire, among women. The study found that women with NSE histories reported higher rates of duty sex compared to those without such histories, independent of their level of sexual dysfunction. Additionally, increased engagement in duty sex was associated with lower sexual satisfaction. These findings highlight the need for further research into the cognitive factors linking NSE histories to feelings of obligation in sexual activity to better support affected women's sexual well-being.
