Abstract
The article focuses on a case study of Capgras syndrome, a rare psychiatric condition characterized by the belief that a familiar person has been replaced by an identical impostor. The case involves a 46-year-old African American woman who developed delusional misidentification of her husband and daughter following the traumatic discovery of her husband's affair and impending divorce. Despite normal cognitive function and no neurological abnormalities, she exhibited significant functional impairment. Treatment with low-dose risperidone and trauma-focused psychotherapy led to marked improvement in her condition. The research underscores the impact of acute psychological trauma on mental health and the effectiveness of combined psychiatric interventions. [Extracted from the article]
