Abstract
The article focuses on proposing interprofessional practice recommendations for recreational therapy, exercise physiology, and athletic training professionals working with adaptive sport athletes. Through qualitative focus groups with practitioners from these disciplines, key themes emerged emphasizing the necessity of interprofessional collaboration and holistic athlete care. Recreational therapists were identified as disability specialists employing the assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation (APIED) process; exercise physiologists emphasized providing training that is challenging, safe, and empowering; and athletic trainers highlighted the critical role of developing and implementing emergency action plans (EAPs) to ensure athlete safety. These findings support integrated, discipline-specific approaches to optimize adaptive sports participation and athlete well-being.
