Abstract

This article systematically reviews validated sexual function questionnaires to evaluate their applicability and inclusivity for transgender patients who have undergone gender-affirming pelvic surgery (GAPS), including vaginoplasty, metoidioplasty, or phalloplasty. The review found that most existing questionnaires use exclusionary gendered language, lack physiological relevance to GAPS patients, and often assume heterosexual orientation, limiting their usefulness in this population. Only 5 out of 13 questionnaires met criteria for inclusiveness regarding medical applicability, affirming language, and recognition of diverse gender identities. The study concludes that there is a need for specifically validated questionnaires to accurately assess sexual outcomes in patients after gender-affirming surgery.
