Abstract
This study investigated the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) among software professionals and evaluated the effect of stretching exercises on the most affected body regions by gender. Data from 196 software professionals identified the neck, shoulders, wrists/hands, and lower back as the most commonly affected areas. An intervention involving structured stretching exercises performed every two hours over four weeks significantly reduced MSD symptoms in these regions for both males and females, with reductions ranging from 40% to 100% depending on the body region and gender. The findings highlight the potential benefits of regular stretching exercises in mitigating MSDs associated with prolonged computer use among software professionals.
