Abstract
The article focuses on the 2025 exhibition "Dinosaurs of the Forgotten Forest" at Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens in Rockford, Illinois, which combined botanical displays with life-sized dinosaur and prehistoric mammal models to recreate the Cretaceous Period. The dinosaur models, created by Applied Imagination Ltd., were crafted from natural materials and featured species such as Tyrannosaurus rex and lesser-known mammals from over 66 million years ago. The exhibit also highlighted the evolution of plants, including nonvascular plants, gymnosperms, and early flowering plants (angiosperms), alongside fossil displays and palynology images borrowed from the Burpee Museum of Natural History. The 16-week event attracted record attendance and enhanced visitor engagement by linking ancient fauna with the conservatory’s living plant collections. [Extracted from the article]
