Abstract

This article presents a case study of splenic lymphangioma, a rare benign lymphatic malformation, in a 9-year-old girl whose imaging revealed an atypical solid-appearing mass beneath the spleen. Multimodal imaging—including ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography angiography (CTA), and positron emission tomography (PET)—demonstrated heterogeneous enhancement and vascular features, which were confirmed by histopathology and immunohistochemistry to be consistent with splenic lymphangioma. The report highlights the diagnostic challenges posed by the lesion's unusual solid imaging characteristics, emphasizing the importance of including splenic lymphangioma in the differential diagnosis of solid splenic masses. It also discusses the role of advanced imaging techniques in distinguishing lymphangiomas from other splenic tumors and lesions.
