Abstract
The article focuses on a case study highlighting the misuse of clonidine, a medication with potential for abuse, and the subsequent withdrawal symptoms experienced by a patient. A 50-year-old male with a history of substance use disorders presented with altered mental status, leading to a differential diagnosis that included substance intoxication and withdrawal. After worsening symptoms, he was treated in the intensive care unit and ultimately admitted to clonidine addiction. The research emphasizes the need to consider clonidine withdrawal in patients presenting with hypertensive crises and altered mental status. [Extracted from the article]
