Abstract
A recent report from researchers at Shaheed Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, Iran, explores the relationship between various psychological factors and smoking addiction. The study found that positive metacognitions about emotion regulation were a significant predictor of the urge to smoke, while positive metacognitions about cognitive regulation were linked to withdrawal symptoms. Negative metacognitions about uncontrollability were associated with smoking dependence. The researchers suggest that addressing these beliefs during treatment for smoking addiction could be an important therapeutic goal. The study was published in Clinical Psychology & Psychotherapy and was supported by Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences. [Extracted from the article]
