Abstract
The article focuses on the experiences and feelings of oncology nurses during hypersensitivity reactions in patients receiving chemotherapy, specifically highlighting a case involving oxaliplatin. It describes the rapid, coordinated emergency response by nursing staff, including administration of medications such as diphenhydramine, methylprednisolone, famotidine, and epinephrine, as well as the emotional support provided to patients. Despite thorough training and updated protocols, nurses face unique challenges with each reaction and engage in post-event discussions to improve care. The article also reflects the nurses' hopes to prevent allergic reactions and achieve complete treatment responses for their patients.
