Abstract
As if it is not challenging enough to identify appropriate descendent groups from within the last few hundred years, Pfeiffer brings the reader further back in time to about 3000 years ago (Chapter 4). The text reads as a biography of Pfeiffer's research, capturing her decision-making processes and the evolution of methodological analyses, ethical treatment of remains, and repatriation. Working with remains in an ossuary burial context is difficult to gather demographic data; however, Pfeiffer gathered information using intact mandibles from select individuals.
