Abstract

The article discusses the study by archaeologist Michael Terlep of Northern Arizona University (NAU) on the lives of members of the Basketmaker II culture in the American Southwest, particularly on how they displayed their wealth and power and their unusual form of jewelry like the necklaces made from insect exoskeletons. Also cited are the members' skill in making ornate woven items like sandals, bags, and aprons.
