Abstract

The article focuses on the multidimensional perspectives of social inequality, emphasizing the interplay of various forms of capital—economic, cultural, social, and personal—in shaping contemporary class structures. It discusses significant research initiatives, such as the Great British Class Survey (GBCS) and studies from the Netherlands Institute for Social Research, which highlight the limitations of traditional class measurements based solely on occupation and income. The findings suggest that a broader understanding of inequality must incorporate diverse factors, including personality traits and intersectional differences, to accurately reflect the complexities of social stratification. The article advocates for a renewed focus on social class within sociology to address the evolving nature of inequality in post-industrial societies. [Extracted from the article]
