Abstract
The article discusses the use of tape adhesion testing in evaluating coating adhesion. The most commonly used method is the manual tape-and-peel test, which involves pressing adhesive tape against a coating and then peeling it off to assess the amount of film removed. The article mentions various ASTM standards that utilize tape testing for different purposes. It also highlights the discontinuation of the 3M ™ Scotch Cellophane Film Tape 610, which was widely used in adhesion testing, and the identification of 3M ™ 681 tape as a suitable substitute. The article concludes by mentioning that ASTM standards are being reviewed to include language defining tape performance characteristics. [Extracted from the article]
