Abstract

This article focuses on a retrospective study evaluating a standardized treatment protocol for maxillary sinus aspergillosis followed by implant-prosthetic rehabilitation in 11 immunocompetent patients. The treatment involved surgical removal of the aspergilloma via a bone lid approach, sinus disinfection using hydrogen peroxide (3%) and photodynamic therapy, and subsequent sinus floor elevation with bone augmentation employing the layering technique. Over a follow-up period of 3 to 10 years, all patients showed no recurrence of sinus pathology, successful implant osseointegration, and stable grafts without complications. The study concludes that this conservative surgical and disinfection protocol, combined with the layering technique for sinus augmentation, provides a reliable and predictable approach for managing maxillary sinus aspergillosis and enabling long-term implant rehabilitation.
