Abstract
The article reports on excavations at Amity House, Stornoway, Isle of Lewis, Scotland to determine whether the huge stone wall discovered in 2018 and 2019 buried below the car park formed part of fortifications attributed to the Cromwellian period or represented earlier remains associated with the medieval castle and associated settlement. Cited are the history of Amity House and Stornoway, the details of the present archaeological excavation, and archaeological information buried on the site.
