Abstract
The article focuses on the architectural redevelopment of Barge Crescent, an office building on London’s South Bank owned by Global Holdings Management Group (GHMG). Designed by Henley Halebrown, the project involved demolishing the above-ground structure while retaining the substructure, creating clear, flexible floor plates with abundant natural light and outdoor access. The building’s facades reference classical architecture with playful elements, including a four-tiered loggia facing Bernie Spain Gardens and terraces on upper floors. Sustainable features include electric mechanical systems, air source heat pumps, and rooftop solar panels. Construction challenges arose when the main contractor entered administration in 2024, prompting GHMG and the project architect to manage completion, with the building now leased to design practice BDP.
