Abstract

The article focuses on the EBI Tower in Lagos, Nigeria, designed by Studio Contra for H Capital as a new corporate high-rise envisioned as a vertical campus. The 20-story building features a publicly accessible podium with spaces for exhibitions and dialogue, and an elevated garden terrace offering city views. Its design draws inspiration from the Bamileke people of Cameroon and Nigeria’s tropical modernism, incorporating slender timber fins and operable glazing for environmental efficiency. The project emphasizes the use of locally sourced, sustainably harvested timber, including repurposed utility poles, to support regional materials and local economic development.
