Abstract
The article focuses on Studio 804, a program at the University of Kansas School of Architecture and Design, where fifth-year architecture students design and build a sustainable home each year. This hands-on experience aims to bridge the gap between architectural design and practical construction, addressing common complaints from builders about architects' lack of building knowledge. The most recent project, completed in 2022, involved creating a 2,055 sq. ft. home in Lawrence, Kansas, emphasizing sustainable materials, energy efficiency, and innovative design strategies to maximize solar orientation and minimize environmental impact. The project received LEED Platinum certification and was sold to support future endeavors of the program. [Extracted from the article]
