Abstract
Six people were killed and 28 others were wounded in an attack on a Shiite Muslim mosque in Muscat, Oman. The Islamic State terror group claimed responsibility for the attack, although this has not been verified. The incident occurred on the eve of Ashoura, a day of commemoration for Shiite Muslims. This attack is a rare instance of violence in Oman, and it comes at a volatile time in the region with ongoing conflicts in Syria and Gaza. [Extracted from the article]
